Guide: How to Connect Canon Printer to Wi-Fi?

Canon printers are accessorized with wireless features like Wi-Fi certified, Apple AirPrint, and Google Cloud Print. These options allow you to print over a wireless network. Canon printers with Wi-Fi-enabled can be connected to an access point and print jobs sent to them remotely. The WPS Connection and Standard are the two connection methods for how to connect Canon printer to wi-fi.

WPS Method Guidance

  • Check if the “access point” has a WPS push button.
  • See that the network uses WPA or WPA2 security protocol.
  • “Turn on” the printer and hold down the Wi-Fi button on it.
  • You’ll see the alarm lamp flash once.
  • Once the lamp next to the Wi-Fi button turns blue, press the WPS button on the access point.
  • The printer will start searching for nearby wireless networks.  
  • Upon the successful connection of the wireless network, the power, and the Wi-Fi lamp will stop flashing and remain lit.

  • Feed a sheet of A4 or letter-sized plain paper.

Wi-Fi Connection for Windows

  • Tuck in the CD that comes with the printer and run it.
  • Or download the printer driver and install it on the computer.
  • Tap Next on the window that appears.
  • A screen appears requesting you to select between a USB or wireless connection.
  • Choose Wireless Connection.
  • Switch on the printer and see if the power lamp is on.
  • Click Next > Connect to the network.
  • Hit Cableless setup. The Connection via Cableless setup window opens.
  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi button until the orange lamp flashes.
  • Wait for the Wi-Fi lamp to flash and the power lamp to light up.
  • Pick your region of residence and tap Next.
  • Check all the software to be installed and tap Next.
  • Agree to the License Agreement and hit Yes.
  • A window is displayed with the model of your printer and the wireless network name.
  • Upon clicking Complete, the wireless setup is over.

Wi-Fi Connection for Mac

  • Download the corresponding printer driver for Mac and install it on the computer.
  • Hit Next on the initial screen.
  • Enter the system password for the helper tool to be installed.
  • On the screen, a request appears to select between a USB or wireless connection.
  • Select Wireless Connection.
  • Power on the printer and verify if the power lamp is on.
  • Click Next > Connect to the network.
  • Choose Cableless setup. The Connection via Cableless setup window opens.
  • Hold down the Wi-Fi button on the printer and release it only when the orange lamp flashes.
  • Hold on for the Wi-Fi lamp to flash and the power lamp to light up.
  • Pick your region of residence and tap Next.
  • Tick and select all the software to be installed. Click Next.
  • Go through and agree to the License Agreement. Hit Yes.
