How to Transfer Quicken Software

  • Before carrying out the transfer process, make sure the below-specified requirements are satisfied.
  • Make sure you have installed the Quicken software on the primary device and the device to which you wish to transfer.
  • Ensure that the same version of the software has been installed on the second computer.
  • If you are a subscribed user, then you can access your account using the Quicken web portal. You do not have to install it on another computer.
  • Also, keep in mind that you should now share the same data file to two computers when you back up files to a network.
  • If you are transferring files from one OS Family to another, then you can convert the file and then send it to the other system.
  • Once the above-mentioned requirements are satisfied, then you can move to the transfer process using the below-specified procedure.
How to Transfer Quicken Software

For Windows

  • Install the Quicken software on the system to which you wish to transfer the data.
  • Check if you have installed the latest version of the data transfer software.
  • Now, you have to launch the Quicken software and select the Backup option available under the File menu.
  • Choose the Backup Quicken File option and then tap the Change button to specify a location.
  • Click the Backup Now option to initiate the backup process.
  • Attach the external drive to the second computer and open the drive.
  • Copy the Quicken file from the hard drive to the desktop screen.
  • Launch the Quicken software on the second system and click the Restore Backup File option from the File menu.
  • Choose the Restore from your Backup option and then tap the Browse option.
  • Select the backup files from the external drive and click the Open button.
  • Tap the Restore Backup option and choose whether you want to overwrite the file or create a new copy.
  • If you are going to go with the Create a Copy option, then select a location to save the copy.
  • To overwrite, you have to click the OK button.

For Mac:

  • First, you have to download and install the Quicken software on the Mac system. 
  • To download the software, visit the official site and click the My Account option.
  • Sign in using the credentials if you have an account. Else, use the Create an Account option to create a new account with Quicken.
  • Find the product to be downloaded in the next step and click the Download Quicken option.
  • Run the Quicken file once the download process is over.
  • Make use of the guidelines that are displayed on the screen of the computer to finish the installation process.
  • Next, connect an external storage device to the computer from which you want to back up your files.
  • Launch the software and choose the Save a Backup option available under the File menu.
  • Wait till the files are backed up to the device you have connected. 
  • Once the backup process is over, disconnect the external drive or device. 
  • Connect it to the second computer firmly and open the Quicken data transfer software.
  • From the File menu, select the Restore from Backup option.
  • From the list of devices available, select the external drive that contains the backup files.
  • Select the file available in the drive and click the Restore this File option.
  • Select a destination folder of your choice in the Where drop-down list.
  • Click the Restore button.
