Unpacking and setting up your HP OfficeJet 4655 printer for the first time

  • As the first step of the setup, remove the printer from its box.
  • Remove all the packing tapes, foreign objects, and other unwanted materials from your printer.
  • After unpacking your printer completely, connect it to an active power outlet and turn it on.
  • Once your printer becomes stable, configure the settings as per your preferences.
  • Make sure to save the configured settings.
  • Now, gently open your printer’s input tray.
  • Move the width guides to the outermost position of the tray.
  • Now, load a stack of paper into the tray and adjust the guides properly.
  • Open the output tray of your printer.
  • Now, get the ink cartridges.
  • Raise the scanner unit of the printer.
  • Unpack the ink cartridges.
  • Open the cartridge lids.
  • Install the unpacked cartridges into their slots.
  • Make sure that the black cartridge is installed on the right-hand side of the slot and the color cartridge on the left-hand side.
  • Close the lids and lower the scanner unit of your printer.
  • Now, your printer will start to print the alignment page automatically.
  • In case the printer fails to print the alignment page, select Setup > Tools > Align Printer.
  • Complete the alignment process by following the rest of the instructions.
  • Finally, install the HP printer driver on your computer to complete the setup.

  • Go to the official support page of your HP printer model.
  • Click Drivers, Software, and Firmware > Go.
  • Now, based on your current OS type, the available HP OfficeJet 4655 printer driver will be displayed on the screen.

Wi-Fi setup using the Wireless Setup Wizard

  • Turn on your HP OfficeJet 4655 printer, wireless router, and computer.
  • Press the Wi-Fi button on your printer’s control panel.
  • Select the Settings option followed by Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Now, from the list, choose your network’s SSID and type its password in the given field.
  • Once your HP printer is connected to the selected wireless network, connect the computer or smartphone that you’re using to the same network.
  • Install the HP Smart app or the HP printer driver on your computer to complete the Wi-Fi setup.

HOW TO CONNECT HP OFFICEJET 4655 TO A LAPTOP?

You can connect your HP OfficeJet 4655 printer to a laptop over a wireless or USB cable connection.

For Wireless

  • If you wish to use the Wi-Fi connection type, refer to the instructions given under the “how to connect HP OfficeJet 4655 to Wi-Fi” section of this page to connect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.
  • After connecting the printer to the Wi-Fi network, enable the wireless feature on your laptop.
  • From the list, select the Wi-Fi network to which your printer is connected.
  • Connect your laptop to the same network by following the on-screen instructions.
  • Finally, install the printer driver to complete the setup.

For USB

  • Connect your printer to the laptop using a USB cable.
  • Open the printer driver file on your computer.
  • Install the software to complete the setup.

  • Make sure that your HP OfficeJet 4655 printer & scanner driver are installed on your computer.
  • Now, on your printer’s scanner glass, place the original with its print-side facing down.
  • Tap the Scan option on your printer’s control panel.
  • Choose the location to save the copy of the scanned document.
  • Configure the scan settings as per your preferences.
  • Tap OK.
  • Now, your printer will start to scan the placed document.

Preparing your printer for the scan operation

For scan to computer

  • Connect your HP printer to the computer over a wireless or USB connection.
  • Enable the “scan to computer” feature on your printer.

For scan using Webscan

  • Enable the Webscan feature on your printer using its EWS page.
  • Access your printer’s EWS page.
  • Click Settings > Security > Administrator Settings > Webscan > Apply > OK.

HP OFFICEJET 4655 SCAN MULTIPLE PAGES

You can scan multiple pages of the document easily and quickly using the HP Smart app. The following instructions also explain the same.

  • On your printer’s scanner glass, place the first page of the document with its print-side facing down.
  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  • Click on the Scan tab.
  • Choose the Scanner option. 
  • Configure the scan settings as per your preferences.
  • Click Apply.
  • Once the first page of the document is scanned, a screen displaying a preview of it will open on your computer. 
  • Now, to scan the second page of the document, click Add > Scan.
  • Place the second page of the document on the glass and follow the same procedure.
  • Similarly, scan all the pages of the document.
  • After scanning all the pages, click Save in the preview window and select the location to save them.

To scan multiple pages of the document and save it as a single PDF file, follow the instructions below.

Scan all the pages of the document by referring to the instructions given under the “HP Officejet 4655 scan multiple pages” section of this page.

  • In the preview window, select the Basic PDF option as the file type and type the file name as per your preferences in the given field.
  • Finally, click the Save or Share button.

Sending a scanned document to an email

Before you begin, check whether the Mail app is pre-installed on your computer. If not, install it, and then configure a personal email account.

Configuring the personal email account

  • Open the installed Mail app on your Windows or Mac computer.
  • Go to the Settings menu.
  • Select Manage accounts > Add Account or click Mail > Add Account.
  • Configure the personal email account by following the rest of the instructions.

Scanning to email

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  • Click Scan.
  • Load the originals on the scanner glass.
  • In the app window, configure the scan settings and click Apply.
  • Once the document is scanned by the printer, the Preview window will appear on your computer screen.
  • Click Share in the Preview window.
  • Select Mail and type your account address in the To field.
  • Click Send.
  • Now, the scanned copy of the document will be sent to the entered email address.

HP OFFICEJET 4655 SCANNING TO CHROMEBOOK

The HP OfficeJet 4655 printer doesn’t support Chrome OS. 

HP OFFICEJET 4655 FAX SETUP

  • Connect your HP OfficeJet 4655 printer to the telephone line wall outlet using a phone cord.
  • Press the Fax button on your printer’s control panel to configure the fax settings.
  • To set up phone book contacts, select Send Now > Phone Book > Contacts > Plus Sign. Enter the contact details in the given field and tap Add. Similarly, add all the contacts to the list.
  • To create a group phone book of contacts, select the Group Contacts option from the Phone Book screen and add the contacts detail in the given fields.
  • Configuring the fax header: On the Fax screen, select Setup > Preferences > Fax Header. Enter the company or preferred name followed by Fax number in the given field. Finally, tap Done.
  • Similarly, configure the fax settings from the Fax Setup screen.
