An excellent wireless outdoor security camera, “SimpliSafe,” is designed to provide 24×7 protection for your home and the surroundings. This security camera comes with a battery that can last up to 3 to 6 months (depends on your usage) and an interactive monitoring plan subscription. The events are recorded automatically by the camera.

This security camera can be accessed using Alexa and Google Assistant. However, to view the camera contents remotely, you have to use the SimpliSafe mobile app.

Basically, the doorbell devices of SimpliSafe are designed to perform the firmware update automatically. So, the SimpliSafe camera firmware update is also done automatically. So, you don’t have to update the firmware manually and worry about your security. 

The only thing you have to do is make sure that your camera is connected to an active Wi-Fi network. When the firmware update is in progress, the status light of the camera turns into solid yellow. The update process might take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Once the firmware update process is completed, the SimpliSafe camera will automatically reboot.

When setting up the camera for the very first time, you will be prompted to connect it to an active Internet connection. If you haven’t completed the setup process and connected the camera to the Wi-Fi network, follow the below instructions.

  • Make sure that you’re using a 2.4 GHz network type for connectivity.
  • Now, install the SimpliSafe mobile app on your smartphone if you haven’t installed it yet.
  • After installing the app, open it.
  • Tap on the Menu icon.
  • Select Cameras > Install Camera. If you have already installed the SimpliSafe camera, then tap the Gear icon and select Add New Camera. Type a name for your camera in the given field and tap Next
  • Choose your Wi-Fi network and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the camera to the network.
  • Pair your camera with the smartphone by following the instructions displayed on the screen.
  • Once the SimpliSafe security camera is paired with your smartphone, the firmware update process will be automatically initiated. 
  • Wait for the on-going update process to complete.
  • Once it is done, your SimpliSafe camera will be ready to use.

Camera won’t connect to Wi-Fi

If your camera doesn’t connect to Wi-Fi, try these troubleshooting instructions to fix the issue.

  • Check whether your SimpliSafe camera is connected to the power source or. If not, connect the camera to the power source, and then try to connect it to the Wi-Fi network.
  • Make sure that your camera reads the QR code.
  • Check if the camera’s status light is solid yellow. If yes, it means the camera is updating its firmware; wait for the update process to complete. Once it is done, try to connect the camera to the Internet again.
