Simplisafe Smart Lock Not Responding

Basically, the SimpliSafe Smart Lock ensures to respond on arm movement when the door is locked. Sometimes these Smart Locks fail to respond. The reason for this issue could be many. Simplisafe Smart Lock Not Responding

Fix 1 – Outdated firmware:

In some cases, it is noted that the SimpliSafe Smart Lock does not respond appropriately due to outdated firmware.

  • Open the SimpliSafe app on your smartphone.
  • Note: If you haven’t downloaded the SimpliSafe app on your smartphone, download it from Google Play Store or App Store.

  • Enter the correct login credentials and sign in to your SimpliSafe account.
  • Navigate to the Smart Lock Controls section.
  • Check whether your screen displays the Update Available message.
  • If yes, tap on it.
  • Now, the firmware update of your SimpliSafe Smart Lock device will get started.
  • Usually, it may take about a few minutes to get completed.
  • Once it is completed, check whether the SimpliSafe Smart Lock not responding issue is solved.

Fix 2 – Battery compartment problem:

If your SimpliSafe Smart Lock is encountering an issue, then there is a chance for the battery problem to occur. Usually, when the battery degrades to a certain level, you will receive a notification on your smartphone or registered email. Follow the below steps to solve the battery issues.

  • Make sure that your SimpliSafe Smart Lock device is turned off.
  • Get a new battery recommended for your SimpliSafe Smart Lock device.
  • Open the battery cover of your device.
  • Remove the old battery from its slot.
  • Install the new battery on its slot and close the cover.

Fix 3 – Sensor is too far away from the Base Station

When the sensor is unable to detect your Base Station, the SimpliSafe Smart Lock will not respond properly.

  • Check whether your sensor is far away from the Base Station.

Follow the below instructions to put the Base Station into Test Mode.

  • Press the Menu button.
  • Type the Master PIN of your SimpliSafe Smart Lock.
  • Select the Test Mode option using the right rocker.
  • Select the sensor that you want to test.
  • If the chosen sensor is able to communicate with the Base Station, then you will hear sound from the Base Station.
  • In order to make the sensor easily detected by your Base Station, keep both the devices closer.

Improper installation:

Usually, the Base Station of the SimpliSafe Smart Lock comes pre-programmed. So, as soon as you encounter this issue, check whether you have finished the overall installation process correctly.

  • Try to perform the overall installation process from the beginning and then check whether the issue is resolved.
  • If you do not want to install extra sensors on your Base Station, you can remove them under the Devices menu.

Remove the extra sensor

  • On the SimpliSafe Smart Lock system’s keypad, press the Menu button.
  • Enter your system’s Master PIN using the keypad buttons.
  • Select the Devices option, followed by the sensor that you want to remove from the system.
  • Choose the Remove option and then press the Off button.
  • By doing so, you can easily remove the extra sensor.

SimpliSafe Smart Lock fails to connect to Wi-Fi:

  • First, make sure that the SSID is not hidden.
  • To do so, go to the network settings of your Wi-Fi router and allow the network to be visible (discoverable).
  • Ensure that your router is emitting a 2.4 GHz signal rather than a 5 GHz frequency.
  • If possible, reset your router.
  • Try bringing your Base Station closer to the router.
