Why is PlayStation VR Discontinued?

Sony’s PlayStation VR is a virtual reality headset that takes your gaming experience to the next level. This headset is designed to work with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 home video. The PS VR was launched on October 13, 2016. Exactly one year after the launch of this headset, a new model was also released. so, the older PlayStation VR discontinued.

The new model of PS VR had a head-mounted display (HMD) and as expected, it came to sale on all popular online stores. One of the online shopping platforms, Amazon.com, had released its listing for the original PS VR. In that list, Amazon specifically notified that the current model of PS VR had been discontinued.

Price reduction is also one of the reasons for this effect. The price of PS VR was reduced from $349.99 USD to $297.86 USD.

The new model of PS VR (CUH-ZVR2: model code) comes with some added features and new audio options as well. In this version of PS VR, you can connect your stereo headphone cables to the HMD and a streamlined connection cable.

An updated Processor Unit that supports HDR passthrough lets you experience HDR-compatible PS 4 contents on your TV.

You can identify the original (CUH- ZVR1) and CUH-ZVR2 models using the model number of the product available on the box. Sony Interactive Entertainment does not release any official statement regarding the product replacement. So with all these added features in the latest version, obviously, the users would prefer the latter and now you know why the PlayStation VR discontinued.
