Why Won’t My Mac Update To 10.13.6

  • The Mac High Sierra OS is also called as update 10.13.6.
  • It is a successor of the Mac OS sierra with much better updates and significant fixes for most of the applications on Mac. 
  • An error starts to occur when you try to update to a newer version 10.13.6 on your Mac when it is rebooted.

Applications Window

  • Open the Launchpad and locate the Install Mac OS sierra.
  • Now, perform a reboot on your Mac, it will re-download and install the 10.13.6 update.
  • Click on the Apple icon seen at the top of the screen and click on the app store.
  • From the Application store list, locate the Install Mac OS High Sierra.
  • Right-click the option and click Update. The Update should happen hassle-free.

Safe Mode

  • You can perform a secure boot on your Mac to fix the update failure.
  • Shut down your Mac system.
  • Restart your Mac and hold the Shift key.
  • Do not release the shift key unless the Apple logo appears on the screen.
  • You can install the 10.13.6 update in safe mode to fix the OS update error.
  • To check if the safe mode solution was a success, you can check the Update on Mac book pro in the System Information.

Troubleshoot With a Clean Installation

  • You can complete a clean update using a bootable USB device.
  • Connect the USB drive to Mac.
  • Download the 10.13.6 installation package from the Mac app store.
  • Run the finder option and select Applications.
  • Select the disk utility in the utility folder.
  • Choose the Format option.
  • To create a bootable Mac OS for the 10.13 installer, name the plugged USB drive as Untitled.
  • Perform formatting the USB drive and download the Mac OS 10.13.6. Open the Terminal window.
  • Type the command given below in the terminal window and And hit Enter.
  • sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/SierraBootInstall –applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app –nointeraction &&say Done
  • Connect the USB drive to your Mac and restart your Mac.
  • Hold and press the option key until you hear a reboot tone in your Mac.
  • Now, install the Sierra disk into the drive.
  • Open the Disk Utility.
  • Click Mac’s Startup disk and click Erase to perform the format.
  • Choose the Install mac OS option.
  • Install the formatted Mac startup drive.
  • Performing the above steps will successfully, and the installation window for OS high Sierra will open.
